ECM Plus - Jahia’s Java-based open source CMS software has just added HTML5 support to the latest version 6.5 beta.
Jahia said 6.5 beta is the first open source, Java-based Composite Content Platform based on the latest open source frameworks that combines PHP-like modularity with Java strength and timesaving management tools for maximum development velocity. Jahia 6.5 beta is available at http://beta65.jahia.org/download.
Commenting on the new additions, Serge Huber, Chief Technology Officer of Jahia said: “Our open source JAVA CMS gives web designers full autonomy to employ a wide variety of scripting languages, including Velocity, PHP and JSP. Jahia was always able to support a wide variety of markups such as XML, WML or even old version of HTML as well as supporting multiple character encodings such as UTF-8.”
Huber added that the addition of support for the emerging HTML5 language provides a new, modern, and flexible markup for delivering multimedia and graphical content, without the need to deal with proprietary plug-ins and APIs.
