Digital Factory offers watermarking for secured content delivery
According to the firm, content can now be digitally watermarked with imperceptible serial numbering of content copies for any media asset or working version. For master copies delivered as tapes, the service provides for watermarking up to 10 bit 4:4:4 HDCAM-SR format. For mezzanine files and proxy versions, the video watermark is embedded on-the-fly upon transcoding to any output format supported by the Rhozet Carbon Coder transcoder.
“It is essential for our customers…to protect their assets prior to theatrical release and track all content copies” said Bruce Guerre-Berthelot, general manager for Digital Factory.
Civolution’s NexGuard forensic watermarking will be used as a deterrent against piracy. Should piracy occur, watermark detection will enable forensic analysis and tracking of illicit copies back to the source of the leakage. The imperceptible digital watermark can be combined with visible burn-ins when a working version needs to be ‘spoiled’ before being delivered to dubbing or sub-titling vendors.
Digital Factory proposes services for the complete post-production of projects with theaters for image and sound editing, digital color grading, music recording, scoring and mixing, dubbing and film audio mixing. Content watermarking is a value added service to tape duplication, mezzanine file formatting, and delivery of proxy version for review or preview.
The NexGuard system database operated by Digital Factory, will log all watermarking tasks with content description and recipient details. Video watermarks are robust and can be detected after format conversion of the marked content, such as analogue or digital, resize or compression.
