ECM Plus +++ Thought Equity Motion, specialist providers of video platform and footage licensing is to partner with Sony Pictures in a bid to monetize content in its gargantuan library of content using Thought Equity Motion’s T3 Metadata Editor.
Peter Ward, SVP of information ops and content licensing for Sony Picture said the massive amount of visual data the company works with in movies and TV shows had to be textually searchable and mapped to a huge amount of other information, such as clearances, rights and restrictions, as well as music cue sheets. “The more easily we can store and access that information, the smarter we can be in using it” he said.
According to Sony, T3 Metadata Editor now supports multitrack, frame level metadata with both manual workflows and automated tools, such as scene detection and script synching.
T3 Metadata is available as a module within Thought Equity Motion’s Hosted Video Platform for web-based access.
Sony will be using T3 to search by actor, line of dialogue, location, and a raft of parameters so the company is able to create interactive features enabling customers to search by keyword within the script, and, share favorite clips.
According to TEM, it will also enable Sony Pictures to mManage restrictions around product placements, talent clearances, and music in order to dynamically create trailers, clips, and other edits for online promotion, social linking, and targeted ads.
Kevin Schaff, CEO of Thought Equity Motion added: “With the transformation of their titles through metadata, Sony Pictures Entertainment is poised to unlock new business models, and change the way entertainment fans find and interact with content.”
