ECM Plus +++ A new version open source business intelligence softwar has just been launched by Italian IT giant Engineering Grouo. Dubbed ‘SpagoBI’ covers analytical areas of the information intelligence domain, with a raft of new features, the company claimed.
SpagoBI 3.0, it said, marked a ‘turning point’ in the area of enterprise-grade open source offerings, with SpagoBI having a new module dedicated to metadata management, to define different information models within data domains.
It also boasts the ability to develop analytical documents through the complete data sources abstraction.
V3 also features an ad-hoc reporting engine for the guided creation of customized reports and a new living image interactive library supporting advanced cockpits, even on mobile devices, such as tablets as well as smartphones.
Version 3.0 has what the company calls ‘location intelligence’ and ‘strengthens the real-time data analysis’, it said, based on systems and ‘events’ interacting with OLTP (On-line Transaction Processing) applications.
According to the Italian firm, the ‘next steps’ include the development of components, for ‘what-if’ and ‘in-memory’ analysis, as well as planning, budgeting, forecasting and scorecarding.
SpagoBI suite is available for free download at OW2 Forge, the global and independent community.
Engineering Group, which has over 6,500 people and 40 offices in Italy, Belgium, Libya, Brazil and Argentina, manages various open source initiatives, such as the SpagoWorld Initiative, including the open source projects SpagoBI, Spagic, Spago4Q and Spago.
